Popular racing game streamer and YouTuber AR12Gaming dropped a video with a similar theory. I’m not the only one who thinks so either. I have nothing to back this claim up but logic seems to go in that direction. The more likely situation is that we may see Forza Horizon 5 release in 2020 and Forza Motorsport 8 released in 2021.
Forza games have historically taken at least 2 years to develop. Specifically because, assuming that development really started in March of 2019, E3 2020 is only a little more than a year after the start development time. It has already been rumored for a few months now that Microsoft may completely reveal the Scarlett at E3 2019 with a release set for 2020.Īlthough, assuming those rumors are correct I still don’t think we would see Forza Motorsport 8 released in 2020. For example, Forza Motorsport 5 being released along side Xbox One and Forza Motorsport 7 with the Xbox One X.Ĭould it be that Forza Motorsport 8 could be destined for “Xbox Scarlett”? While I’m personally not ready for the current console generation to end, I think it is highly possible that the next Forza game is set for the next gen. Historically speaking, when a new Xbox or PlayStation is released, racing games like Forza and Gran Turismo are used to showcase the power of the new technology.

The PlayStation 5 and the next Xbox (rumored code name “scarlett”) are hot topics right now. Lately in the video game space, there has been a lot of talk, rumors, and speculation on the next generation of gaming consoles. Yes, the team wanted to have a stronger focus on Forza Motorsport 7 but what if that wasn’t the only reason? Yes, there is the major and obvious fact that Turn 10, themselves stated that they just now started production on the next game. I’ll start with a deeper look into why Forza Motorsport 8 won’t be at E3 this year. However, that doesn’t stop us (or the rest of the internet) from wanton speculation. So with no Forza Motorsport 8 coming to E3, what can we expect for the future of the franchise? Right now no one really knows for certain, besides the developers obviously. The reaction to that has been mixed but we personally haven’t played enough of it to form our own opinion yet. In the meantime, the studio did reveal the Forza Street mobile game.
With such a late start, there is no way anything would be ready in time for E3 in June. The Turn 10 Studios team remained dedicated to creating additional content and addressing fan issues/concerns on Forza Motorsport 7 so development on the next game didn’t get into swing until late march. E3 is coming up soon and so far all we know for (mostly) certain is that Forza Motorsport 8 will not be revealed at the show.
